Forward

While driving to Texas with my nephew Michael Mendoza, I was describing my ideas for a series including an Albums, DVD and books to preserve the legacy of the Mendoza Family. I expressed to him my concern that many of the memories and artifacts of the family were slowly being lost. Michael suggested that we also collect all of the recipes of the family as part of the La Familia Mendoza series. I agreed to collect and publish the recipes and give him credit for the idea. Thus began the process of requesting recipes from family and friends. Most recipes are presented as submitted and were edited only for clarity and not altered in any other manner from the original versions. Of course none of the recipes included nutritional data so where possible we have attempted to calculate and add such data. Rachel Edmonson, daughter of long-time Mendoza family friend Laura Lozano, assisted us with this huge task.
